Ok, while I admit that I was hesitant to add these products (more below), we realize that personalized blankets are an important part of any baby blanket store.  If you are looking to buy a gift for a friend or family member, there is hardly a better way out there to show your caring thoughtfulness than with an embroidered blanket.  It shows that you go the extra distance to put a touch of kindness in your gift.  Plus, it’s something the child can treasure as their own!

Look closely on our product page.  Notice anything different?  Ok, you may have caught us.  This category page is a bit different than the rest.  If you’ve noticed, there are no helpful filters or pop images to help you get a closer look.  I’ve added these products as affiliate only for now.  Yeah, yeah, not my favorite, but we’re more concerned about you having a fuller selection than the checkout being on BMB.  So go ahead, knock yourself out and discover some of the great personalized blankets we have to choose from!

Valentine’s Day Baby Blanket Gift Ideas - Baby blankets for special occasions series

February 3rd, 2009

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  If you have a special someone, I hope you have the perfect gift in mind.  We at blanketmybaby.com have some ideas for what to buy for your sweetheart…and we mean your baby of course!

Here is a list of Valentine’s Day baby blanket gift ideas:

-  Have a blanket in a Valentine’s Day color or print personalized or monogrammed for your baby.

-  Make your own blanket - For the talented with needles, knit a red and pink blanket or sew a heart-shaped blanket.  For the not-so-talented with needles, buy a red, pink or white baby blanket and sew or iron on a heart-shaped patch.  You could also buy heart-patterned fleece and a plain fleece and make a tie together fleece blanket.

-  Buy a unique Valentine’s Day baby blanket from a store.  You can find a very cute example of a baby blanket for Valentine’s Day from The Land of Nod.  The “Be My Valentine Blankets” feature a red/pink Valentine’s hearts pattern on a white background.  You may choose between a swaddling blanket made of 100% pre-shrunk cotton flannel with swaddling instructions and a cotton flannel security blanket with a silky satin border.  Both blankets are machine washable and made in the USA.

With a blanket this cute and holiday themed, your baby will be winning the hearts of everyone around!

An Everyday Parent’s Advice for Buying the Perfect Baby Blanket - Blankets must be unique and user-friendly

January 5th, 2009

Anne, 24, Erlanger, KY

Proud mom of Deacon

Anne loves buying and receiving blankets with a personal touch or a unique flair.  She also realizes that a baby blanket is going to be used by guess who...a baby!  This means it may endure some serious wear-and-tear.  Check out her advice below to find out what she looks for when buying a baby blanket.

Unique baby blankets

1) Personalized or Monogrammed baby blankets
I received a blanket at a baby shower with white satin trim. It had Deacon’s name and a teddy bear monogrammed on it.

2) Matches the baby’s room
When buying a blanket for a friend, I look for something that will match the décor of the baby’s room. The blanket does not necessarily have to match the set of bedding, but it should have coordinating colors.

3) Fun colors or textures are a must
I always buy a blanket that is unique in some way: it may be full of color, a satin border, or fringe (babies love blankets with “fun” materials).

Durable, functional baby blankets

1) Easy to wash
Babies get things dirty. Always buy blankets that are machine washable so that you can wash and use them over and over again!

2) Easy to pack
Sometimes you need to get somewhere in only a moment’s notice. The blanket should be easy to fold and pack so that you can throw it in with the rest of the baby gear and hit the road.

3) Affordable
I think blankets need not be expensive. A parent should not have to choose between diapers or a blanket. Any blanket over $15.00 gets passed up by me. That way, if my son destroys it, there is no heartbreak and no tears shed.

4) Durable and Long-lasting
Blankets are one of the best security items for children-so it needs to stand the test of time.

What Do You Put On A Personalized Baby Blanket?

December 16th, 2008

Ok, so you’ve decided to give a baby blanket for a gift to your expecting family member or friend.  Even better, you’ve narrowed down from all of the choices to the category of a personalized baby blanket.  Now, the only real decision left is figuring out what the heck you put on it!

Personalized baby blankets are among the most popular of categories for shops that sell baby blankets.  Good news for you the shopper is that many sites even offer this feature for free!  However, it can be difficult to know what to put on the blanket (especially if you don’t know the child’s name).  In most cases, a personalized baby blanket must be given after the announcement of the baby name is made, unless you have some super zealous parents who have already named their child.  So, hear are a few of the choices you can make to embroider on the blanket

  • First name only
  • First and last name
  • First, middle and last name
  • First and last name initials
  • First, middle, and last name initials
  • First name and birth date
  • First name and last name with birth date
  • First, middle and last name with birth date
  • First and last name initials with birth date
  • First, middle and last name initials with birth date
I know.  I know.  It can be a bit overwhelming to choose.  However, if none of these options float your boat, there is an option to get a bit more creative.  At Fillintheblankie.com, you have an opportunity to place up to 200 characters (50 on each side) of the blanket!  Think of the possibilities!  This site allows you to ultra-personalize your message to the newborn child, and will allow them to be reminded of you as they grow with more than just their name or birth date on the blanket.  With these blankets, you provide the copy and fillintheblankie.com will “personalize them out the wha-zoo.”  I love the fact that this company provides this option so that you can say exactly what you’d like to say.

No matter what option you choose, whether it is a more traditional option or a highly customized message, a personalized baby blanket is a wonderful gift because it shows how much you care.  It shows that you are loving enough to take the time and add a personal touch to the gift of a beautiful new life.  I wish you the best as you choose, and I hope this article will help you decide!
