Ward off the cold with a new baby blanket

January 13th, 2010

Well, it’s been really cold across much of the U.S. for the past few weeks.  It’s been reported that even tropical states like Florida have had several instances of below freezing temperatures.  What a great time to consider a new baby blanket (or two!) to keep your little one warm and cozy.

Any blanket will add some warmth for baby, but at blanketmybaby.com, we have a few unique blankets that add a touch of extra warmth.

Try a fabric like flannel or fleece.  If the blanket is for tummy time or play time, buy a thicker, large blanket for your floor for the winter season.  You will also need a warm blanket for the stroller and on-the go.  Some options from our online store include:

Featured Fleece:

Featured Cotton Flannel and Organic Cotton Flannel:

Featured blankets for winter tummy time or stroller:

Also try baby sleeping bags/sleep sacks, to keep your child nice and cozy and to prevent them from kicking the blanket off while sleeping.  Check out our entire selection of sleep sacks by clicking here.

If you need help finding something specific, have questions or would like a gift recommendation, please contact us at customerservice@blanketmybaby.com.  Stay safe and warm!

I Am Yours - Cute Kid & A Ukulele

December 11th, 2009

Ok, this video has nothing to do with baby blankets, but it’s a cute kid singing Jason Mraz’ I’m Yours on a ukulele.  It’s a minute and a half of your life that you won’t regret losing.  Love the skills.  The lyrics are a bit lacking, but I’ll get over it.  :)

Thank You BMB Customers

December 10th, 2009

I haven’t been able to do this enough, but I wanted to take some time to thank you to all of our customers!  You guys are the best!  BlanketMyBaby has steadily grown each month for the past six months, and we don’t plan on stopping any time soon.  You are helping us do that.  So, thank you!

We are continuing to add more blankets to our selection in an effort to be your one stop shop on the internet for all of your baby blanket needs.  We are even looking into adding additional categories to our site.  So, be on the lookout for that.

Our most popular blankets have been and could continue to be our aden and anais 4 packs.  We have scoured the internet for you in an effort to give you the lowest net price of blankets + shipping.  Many of you have heard the great news at how great these swaddling blankets are, and you are spreading the word.  Again, thank you!  These blankets get softer with every wash and are excellent for swaddling.  Target has come out with their own line of these blankets for $29.99, but the quality is not the same and the blankets are smaller.  So, we look forward to being the best destination of aden + anais 4 packs.  Plus, if you are interested in the sleeping bags, let us know!  We might start adding those blankets for when your baby is growing and outgrowing his or her blanket.

Ok, I guess I’ll wrap it up.  I just can’t say THANK YOU enough!  We hope your Christmas shopping is going well and that you will be able to focus on this wonderful season for its true meaning.

Best,

Eric

Gisele and Tom Have A Boy

December 9th, 2009

It’s football season, so I don’t mind putting some more news about football players.  Besides, my Bengals are 9-3 and the University of Cincinnati is 12-0.  If there were ever a year for me to stick out my chest a bit for my football teams, this is the year.  Yeah, we’re probably going to lose Brian Kelly to Notre Dame, but it was fun while it lasted.  Two Big East Championships.  I’ll take it.  But I digress.

Tom Brady, super popular and good looking quarterback of the New England Patriots had a baby boy with wife and super model Gisele Bundchen.  The new guy doesn’t have a name yet, but I’m sure in no time, he’ll be playing football in the back yard with dad.  Now, they have to get this little guy some baby blankets!

Interesting note on Tom Brady.  The guy has super success, Super Bowl championships and super models for wives and yet he is unsatisfied with life.  This interview gets pretty personal and is great.  I wish Tom would understand where this brokenness comes from.  Hopefully, he’s not looking for fulfillment in sports games, supermodels or children.

Supermodels and Baby Weight

November 7th, 2009

Heidi Klum has recently said that she is finding it hard to lose her baby weight after having her fourth child, Lou.  Really?  You think?  The German supermodel is no longer a young little sprite.  She’s now 36 and the mother of four kids with her husband, Seal.  To quote from the article:

She said: “I wouldn’t say I’m back in shape yet. Everything changes when you get older. It was different when I was 31 with the first one and now being 36 with the fourth one.”

She is now hitting the treadmill and eating sensibly in a bid to get back in shape as she fears she will remain bigger forever if she doesn’t act now.

I can’t imagine the pressure that models have throughout their entire life to have a certain look.  Especially after you have children, doesn’t this mindset change a bit?  Or do models have to look that way for the rest of their life?

I believe there is a beauty that extends far beyond physical features that comes with motherhood.  It is an incredible miracle to be able to give life to a little human being.  We as a culture take this gift for granted far too often, and we worry far to much about things that don’t matter, such as weight.

Heidi, I know you’ll never read this, but it’s OK to not look like you are 26 as a Victoria’s Secret model.  You are 36 and the mother of four.  You can just be a mom now.  :)

ErgoPouch iParenting Award Winner

September 22nd, 2009

The ErgoPouch is the 2009 iParenting Media award winner for its safe design and quality fabric.  The ErgoPouch is made of organic cotton to help control temperature and allergies.  The ErgoPouch is a unique mixture between a baby blanket and sleeping bag.  It is soft and light weight like a blanket, but it has the comfort of a sleep sack design.  Also, a unique feature of the ErgoPouch is that it was developed with strech inserts to allow the baby to move freely without getting tangled.  The fabric is highly breathable and safe for your baby.

The nice thing about a sleep sack blanket is that you simply zip up your baby inside.  It’s designed to make diaper changes simpler, which is nice for every parent.

The pouch is made of alpaca fiber which is like wool, but softer.  You don’t get the prickly sensation that often comes with wool.  Also, it is lanolin free, which allows the blanket to be hypoallergenic.  Every individual alpaca strand is hollow, which allows it keep your baby warm and cozy, but also be breathable.  ErgoPouch also comes in organic cotton and bamboo.

Show Us Your Baby

September 12th, 2009

One of the things I love about being in the baby blanket business is that babies are adorable!  Now, I didn’t used to think this way.  I’ve had a change of heart.  I used to think most babies were somewhat alien looking as they came out of the womb, but over time, I’ve come to see just how precious they are.  Every baby is different, and they are all cute in their own ways.

So, what we’d like to do is feature your baby on our site!  If you have cute baby pictures of your little one (and I know you do - seriously, we live in the digital age for crying out loud), then send them to us through our Contact Us link on the store.  Give us a blurb about your baby and why they are the cutest in the world, and we’ll post them on the blog.  To get us started, I’ll post about one of our favorite little guys, Ajax Knoechel.  Here he is being adorable.  By the way, Ajax is an avid Facebooker.  Look him up and be his friend!  : )

Time for a Break

September 2nd, 2009

Well, it’s Labor Day Weekend in two more days and for my wife and I, it’s time for a break!  For the past two nights, I’ve been planning our little getaway, but I thought I’d take a minute to blog about our little adventure.  We both live in Cincinnati now, but we grew up in Northern Kentucky, and so we are heading to the Bluegrass State to have a little fun!

On Saturday, we plan on trekking down to Lexington to see a few friends, but before we get there, we have stops in mind.  We’re going to try some Kentucky wine!  Ok, so it’s not Napa Valley or anything from Bordeaux, but it’s what we got.  We’re going to stop by Elk Creek for a tasting around lunch time.  Hopefully, we’ll get a tour.  We have some friends who have gone down there for concerts and say it’s a blast.  Then, we’re going to make our way over to Equus in the evening and give them a try.  They have some cheap tastings and an evening concert that should be fun.  Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of time between tastings and driving.

Then, Sunday morning, it’s off to Red River Gorge for some camping.  It should be fun to get out and hike a bit and then pitch a tent under the stars.  We have some other friends who are Gorge fanatics, and they are hooking us up with the best trails and some camping gear.

Everyone needs a break.  We even need a break from baby blankets every now and then.  Life can’t be all work all the time.  We hope you get out and have a great Labor Day!
