So you are opting for providing your children with a homeschooled education. Wonderful for you! Kids who gain their education in the comforts of their home have proven to have better results on tests and with their grades, do better in college and among the work force. Families that opt for homeschooling have a closer bond than those who don’t. Leaving your reasons for homeschooling aside, do you know what kind of curriculum you want to use? Have you gained some knowledge about the kinds of options and approaches that are available? Making a decision on the option for homeschooling curriculum doesn’t have to be a trying matter. If you conduct some research, you should be able to formulate a curriculum that is beneficial to you and your children. Here are some things you can contemplate.
One type of curriculum that might interest you is called unschooling, this type is much more relaxed. This is a type of curriculum that focuses on your kids’ natural instincts and interests and lets them sort of build their own curriculum or educate themselves. Really it’s not schooling at all since that term refers to a lesson plan and curriculum. Unschooling lets the kids decide what they want to learn and how they want to learn it. You as the parent can take a hands off approach to their learning. Applying for scholarships, college admissions and SAT’s can be a challenge with this method despite the fact that many parents have great success with it.
Montessori and Waldorf schools are among those quite popular in some circles. These are typically schools that embrace an advanced learning style. Some people joke about them being “schools for geniuses. ” There’s great news for you, there are homeschool curriculums that are just like these schools. You will enjoy seeing how actively your kids are learning with these curriculums. The founders of this type of curriculum would roll over in their graves at the thought of allowing a child to learn by watching TV or a computer all day. If you agree then this may be the plan for you.
Many homeschooling parents choose to focus on unit studies for their curriculum. There are many ways to accomplish this easily. This method is modeled after your more traditional school. Remember those “vocabulary units” in English class and the “Planets units” in science? This can help focus lesson plans. This can however be a hassle if your kids are not into the unit you have planned. It may be really tempting to skip to another lesson.
Trying to determine which homeschooling curriculum to choose doesn’t have to be overly complex. With some legwork (both on your own findings and advice from friends who educate their children at home) you should have an easier chance at deciding which technique will be most suitable for you and your kids.

When baby tries to walk for the first time, he holds on to the wall or anything he can get his hands on in order to stretch his legs. The parents are so anxious for their kid since if the child walks sooner than expected, they believe he is extraordinary. The parents are overjoyed when at last their little kid is walking about. Buying the little clothes and shoes is what a mother enjoys doing and the faster the baby grows, mother keeps exclaiming how fast her child is gaining that her or his garments and footwear don’t fit anymore. Cute baby shoes are always a pleasure to shop for and are so unlike the footwear of children and adults. A mother can spend a lot of time hunting for the right pair for her little one. One can make an odd observation that when the child outgrows those little shoes, they’ll still be good as new but a baby has several needs from a grown-up.
The sensitivity of baby feet might contribute to their better response to the steps they take when walking. Offering the baby with baby shoes which could cover his sensitive feet is necessary. It’s also good to allow the baby to walk barefoot so he or she can learn to adjust the steps taken on the ground although clean surfaces should be chosen when letting someone’s baby go without shoes. It is therefore preferable that baby shoes are worn by the child to protect him or her from getting hurt or stepping on filthy matter.
One can imagine the need for baby shoes with all which is displayed in department stores and shops. Maybe the frequency of changing the shoes of little children explains the volume of their shoes on sale. One who shops for the first time for baby shoes is advised to select one that’s comfortable and meets security standards for the child. Soft soles help the baby experience how soft or hard the ground is. When buying baby shoes, the adaptability of the footwear must be considered, that it does not hamper the feet from walking correctly. Baby shoes must have a non-slippery sole like rubber that holds on to the surface of the ground to prevent the shoes from slipping.
An important consideration when buying baby shoes is the size of the shoes which should conform with the size of the baby’s feet. Everybody knows that babies grow fast to ensure that shoes with an allowance will be good for the baby. But baby shoes which are too big are not relaxed or can even be accidentally removed from the feet or thrown, causing the kid to stumble. Almost all these factors should be considered and, precisely, the size should fit baby’s feet perfectly.
Shoes which are locked so tight and take time to untangle can be confusing to a child and hard for the parent who has to get rid of the shoes if the child is unable to do so. Mothers choose to purchase slips-ons for their children because they’re easy to be put on and off. One who chooses one with laces and buttons should check very well that those won’t cause accidents for the child.
Looking for the ideal baby shoes for your little son or daughter? Before you go to your nearby mall, be reminded that there are various kinds of shoes available. You can choose from baby soft soled shoes, squeky shoes, toddler sandals and some girls shoes.

If you’re a woman over 35 years old and you want to conceive, you’re probably frustrated at studies that tell you how women your age are less likely to have babies than younger women. You need to remember that pregnancy is just difficult but not entirely impossible for you. The decrease in fertility as women get older is probably due to several factors. First, a problem with chromosomes may be the main cause of an unrecognized miscarriage . One sign of early miscarriage may be irregularity in menstruation. Second, aging may affect the uterus. Implantation of the fertilized egg may be difficult because of the presence of fibrous tissue inside the uterus, which is a common phenomenon for aging women.
Doctors take the age of parents-to-be very seriously and while waiting times of up to 1 year is reasonable for women under 30, most care providers will begin testing and treating women over 35 after 6 months of trying to become pregnant. Women over 40 years old receive treatment for infertility almost immediately. A steady decline in conception chance is obvious from 35 years old onward. By age 40, around one-third of couples are likely to have problems becoming pregnant. Two thirds of women who are older than 40 years have difficulty conceiving.
More resources and advice are available from natural family planning facilities and infertility support groups. Somehow, learning more about conception can make you feel at ease and more in control of your own conception. The knowledge that there are alternative treatments around you may also put you at ease.
If you’re thinking of seeking help from a specialist in fertility, make sure that the doctor you choose will be able to provide you with a range of alternatives.
Many doctors recommend psychological counseling for all couples with infertility issues. If the monthly roller coaster of hope and disappointment has resulted in serious frustration or if planned sex has zapped your relationship, you may want to consider seeing a counselor, even without medical infertility intervention.
Aging women who may already have health issues should see a fertility specialist at once. irregularity in menstruation may be an indicator that you need to see a specialist soon. Before you do anything, however, always think of the effect of treatment options on your psyche, budget and relationship.

New born babies are welcome additions although caring for them can be quite a handful for the parents. Is there such a thing as a typical day and night for new parents? Definitely no. Parents should keep in mind that it is not only they who are having a new life but the baby as well who, although he may not know it then, is beginning a new life of his own. Keep the baby close to you, keep him wrapped and warm. It will be new experience for the breastfeeding mother but she will adapt to it in no time.
If the baby is to be fed with formula milk, feeding should be at 3-5 hour intervals. If you’re breastfeeding, he’ll need to feed more frequently. That is why new mothers feel that they are spending most of their hours feeding her baby. You will probably feel much more empathy with cows! The same feeling is true with diapers that will need to be changed so often. If the baby is feed hourly, it could mean that the mother will also be changing diapers on an hourly basis. Be sure to check frequently.
Until the umbilical cord has fallen off, you’ll want to keep to sponge baths every few days, but you will want to wash the baby’s bottom every day. You can wipe the baby’s hands, face, neck and bottom every day with a soft washcloth with warm water. When the baby’s ready for full baths, in a few weeks, every day is a good idea to prevent diaper rashes. But keep in mind that too much bathing can dry out his sensitive skin. So see what works for your baby.
Mothers should also keep track of the baby’s nail growth as it can cause some harm if not trimmed regularly. It is possible for a baby to be born with long nails situated high on the nail bed. You’ll need to gently press the fingerpad away from the nail and clip it with a baby nail clipper. If it can wait, cut the baby’s nails when he is asleep to minimize possible damage from the baby’s unexpected movements.
Parents should be prepared for a busy schedule during the first few months. The physical strain may prove to be too much for the new mother so she should seek some help to provide her some respite.

Back in October, we took Emil on his first road trip. It was about an 8.5 (normally 7) hour journey up I-75 to meet his great grandparents. Emil will be too young to remember this trip, but fortunately, we took some video to capture the trip. My parents grew up about 15 minutes from each others’ houses. They were high school sweethearts, and as a family, it’s been so nice to go “up North” and be able to visit both sets of grandparents.
One of the true joys of having Emil born into our lives is the increased connectivity between your family. For the older generations, I believe a baby brings memories, smiles, joy and hope for the future. Plus, they get to do all the fun stuff with the baby, knowing that it’s not their turn for the 2am feedings. Ha! But Witni and I have both experienced a new depth of understanding and intimacy with both our parents and grandparents. There is a sense of empathy for one another because you are now experiencing something in having children that is simply inexplainable until it happens. The same goes for being married, but this is just another deeper level. I love it.
While we were on the trip, we were able to talk to my grandparents about their parenting experiences and ask for tips and advice. The result was priceless, and I’m happy to say I was able to video some of those interviews as well. The following passage has been deep on the hearts and minds of my wife and I.
Deut. 6:1-9
1 These are the commands, decrees and laws the LORD your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, 2 so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. 3 Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, promised you.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
I am so excited to be able to pass down the love of our Lord to our son. I cannot wait to tell him how much God loves him. I cannot wait to impress upon him the love of the Father – that the heart of the Father is that we “may enjoy long life”. What a blessing to be a parent. What a great responsibility. The Lord chose one family to bless the nations. His plan has always been to use the family as a way to bless the earth.
In the video below, you’ll see clips from the Sztanyo grandparents and being at the Britt farm (my mom’s side), with her mom and sister. We also got to take a stroll on the Britt farm through their exquisite tree grove. Our dog Legend, got to come as well.
