Supermodels and Baby Weight
Heidi Klum has recently said that she is finding it hard to lose her baby weight after having her fourth child, Lou. Really? You think? The German supermodel is no longer a young little sprite. She’s now 36 and the mother of four kids with her husband, Seal. To quote from the article:
She said: “I wouldn’t say I’m back in shape yet. Everything changes when you get older. It was different when I was 31 with the first one and now being 36 with the fourth one.”
She is now hitting the treadmill and eating sensibly in a bid to get back in shape as she fears she will remain bigger forever if she doesn’t act now.
I can’t imagine the pressure that models have throughout their entire life to have a certain look. Especially after you have children, doesn’t this mindset change a bit? Or do models have to look that way for the rest of their life?
I believe there is a beauty that extends far beyond physical features that comes with motherhood. It is an incredible miracle to be able to give life to a little human being. We as a culture take this gift for granted far too often, and we worry far to much about things that don’t matter, such as weight.
Heidi, I know you’ll never read this, but it’s OK to not look like you are 26 as a Victoria’s Secret model. You are 36 and the mother of four. You can just be a mom now. :)
