How To Swaddle A Baby

Video Transcript:

I'm here to show you my Womb 2.0 Swaddling method.  What you need for this is one cute baby and 2 blankets.  I'll show you which blankets.  It doesn't really matter what blankets you can use.  You can use square or rectangle.  I prefer to use blankets that are a little stretchier.

The first thing you do is lay the blanket down flat.  Then, if you imagine a line being drawn between the two corners, you fold this blanket down to meet that line.  This is where the baby's head is going to go.  So, we take our baby, and you want to put (see where it's head is poking out a little bit there).  And the reason why it's called Womb 2.0 is because they feel like they are in the womb.  So, you want to keep it nice and snug.

So, you want to do this first fold pretty tight.  Now, you don't want to do it acrosse their face because that can choke them, but if you do it tight coming down, you get their little arm in.   Oh, she's protesting.  And then, you kind of come down at an angle, probably towards the 4:00 position.

Next, you want to get their feet in.  So, you pull this bottom part in up towards about the 1:00 position here.  And then you do the same thing here.  Do it kind of tight coming across her face.  So, each kind of pull, you hold it kind of tight until you do the next one.

So, this last one, as you are holding that tight, you take this last piece and fold it across this way and tuck it underneath.  So, this is the first blanket.

We're going to do this one more time.  Same thing.  Pull the top down to about the middle line.  Put her right in there.  So they say ... I've heard some people recommend pink blankets for girls and blue for boys, but I haven't noticed any increased swaddling performance by using different colors.  So the color I don't think really matters.

So you go down there and as you are keeping it tight, you fold this one (keep it nice and tight) all the way up top to about 1:00.   And then as that's tight, you pull this one across their face.  They get used to it, don't worry.  And as you are holding over there, you tuck this one over that to about 10:00.

So, what you have here, if you do it right, they should be wrapped up pretty good and have good neck support.  You should be able to hold them up like this where it is stiff enough to support them.  So, that's how you wrap and swaddle a baby.

That's all, thanks for watching.

Oh, and I do recommend that you buy your blankets from BlanketMyBaby.com.  It's the best place to buy blankets for all of my swaddling needs.

Yes, those are my two boys – Emil and Corin.  Adorable right?  You may think that at first glance, but when it comes to potty training boys, there is no cuteness that can overtake the frustration you may feel as a parent.  Been there. Ok, Corin, we can still chalk up to being a baby. [...]
